As we are all painfully aware, energy costs are going up like floodwaters during a hurricane.  The primary reason is the cost of foreign oil.  It is a well known fact that our country imports over 60 percent of its oil.  As long as we import so much oil, we are at the mercy of the countries that sell us that oil.  There is a solution.

We can grow our own energy!  We have thousands of farmers across our country who are having a hard time making a living because of the vagaries of the agricultural industry.  If these same farmers were growing energy, they would have a secure financial future and help set our country free from the world's oil barrons. 

So, how can they grow energy?  Simple, they plant oil seed crops or sugar crops.  The oil from te oil seed crops can be easily transformed into biodiesel.  This biodiesel can be used in ANY diesel vehicle in the world!  The sugar crops can be used to produce ethanol alcohol which can be used in all of the newer flex fuel vehicles.  In the past, these fuels were not competitive with fossil fuels, but today, not only are the price competitive, but beat fossil fuels hands down on emissions. 

The question that begs to be asked, Why aren't our state legislators doing everything possible to promote these technologies?  If you have any questions, just do a web search for biofuels, biodiesel, or ethanol.
